I work with many students of all ages and levels and can offer a variety of learning options meeting your study needs and budget.

Modern (Plectrum) Foundation

Time-tested and proven techniques for the modern guitar will build the theoretic and technical foundation needed to play in any style. We will cover: chords, rhythm, strumming, note reading, and the development of left and right hand technique.

You will be able to play popular songs from start to finish, and will custom build a practice schedule that works for YOU! With emphasis on learning chord forms and rhythm study, this course is a prerequisite for songwriters, and those who plan to study modern guitar professionally, be it rock, metal, jazz, folk or any other modern style.

PLECTRUM (Pick-Style) Advanced

You will master ALL the Major Scales, all of their arpeggios, and all of their modes. The knowledge of the fretboard and fingerboard harmony this course gives to you is invaluable. You will also learn advanced sight-reading, chord melody, inversions, and how to write your own chord progressions and accompaniment for songwriting.

You will explore a range of modern guitar styles, become organized, optimize your practice time, and gain a tremendous advantage over 95% of other guitarists. Advanced chord shapes and sophisticated chord progressions with complex strumming and picking patterns will take your playing to the level of a professional. This course is a must for any serious student of the modern acoustic guitar or songwriting. Recording and performance experience will be provided as part of the course.

Classical (Fingerstyle) Foundation

A step by step approach for developing a solid technique on the Nylon String and Acoustic Fingerstyle Guitar. Learn effective practice methods, and begin playing your first solos and duets.

With emphasis on sight-reading and classical technique, this course is a prerequisite for songwriters, and those wishing to pursue classical or modern fingerstyle guitar study more seriously. We will build an attractive repertoire of easy peaces, learn the basics of fingerpicking accompaniment, and prepare the right and left hands for advanced arpeggios, comping, and walking bass lines. (These are techniques that make your playing “interesting” and varied instead of just plain strumming or picking.)

Modern Fingerstyle Advanced

Learn to play in guitar ensembles with other advanced players and take your techniques, skills, and repertoire to the level of a professional guitarist. You will learn to memorize an impressive repertoire of solo classical and contemporary jazz and Latin classics and will be able to play fluently with grace and expression on stage and in the recording studio. This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to master advanced accompaniment and become a professional songwriter or performer of the modern fingerstyle solo and rhythm guitar.

Advanced comping, advanced scales (in thirds and octaves), jazz chord voicing, among many other advanced techniques will be covered in great detail to give you confidence and mastery of your instrument.

EASY GUITAR DONE RIGHT

Maybe you work a day job or run your own business and want to play guitar to relax? Maybe you have a family and want to introduce music to your kids? Or maybe you’ve always wanted to play guitar but don’t have the time to go through learning note reading and theory?

If all you want to do is strum a few songs, know the basic chords, and be able to play along to your favorite tunes and share music with your family and friends – beware! There is a wrong and a right way to learn guitar as a hobby. Many students think that by learning a few chords off YouTube will give them the skills they need to play popular guitar tunes. But this is not so. You don’t need to read music, and you don’t need to practice for hours a day like serious students of guitar do. But you DO NEED TO KNOW THE RIGHT WAY TO PRACTICE. This is something online tab charts and YouTube videos just do not offer.

This is a friendly course designed to introduce you to the CORRECT way of playing modern acoustic guitar at a basic fundamental level. This course gives you the foundation you need to strum along to your favorite songs, without the added pressure of learning to read music notation and practicing technical exercises (Which is a MUST for anyone who wants to be a professional musician). This is a fulfilling and relaxed way to learn guitar as a hobby. And if you love the results you can always build on your skills from here.
